Vaishno Devi and Patnitop

The darshan with a day in the hills afterwards, so the trip is not only the climb up and the drive back.

Package summary

Duration 4 days and 3 nights
Route Sirsa to Katra to Patnitop to Sirsa
Group size 2 to 12 travellers
Transport Air conditioned Innova or tempo traveller
Stay Hotels in Katra and Patnitop
Best time All year, busiest during Navratri

Most Vaishno Devi packages are two days of driving wrapped around one night in Katra. We add Patnitop because the extra day costs very little and changes the trip completely, particularly for older travellers who need a day to recover after the climb.

We book Katra hotels close to the Banganga end of the track so the walk starts easily. If anyone in your group cannot manage the fourteen kilometres, tell us and we will arrange a pony, a palki or the helicopter, subject to availability.

Yatra slips are your own responsibility, but we will tell you exactly where to collect them and at what time to leave.

Day by day

1 Sirsa to Katra

A long driving day through Punjab and into Jammu. We aim to reach Katra by evening so you can rest properly before the climb.

2 The darshan

An early start for the fourteen kilometre track to the bhawan. Most groups are back in Katra by late afternoon. The rest of the day is for sleeping.

3 Katra to Patnitop

A short and pleasant drive up to Patnitop. Deodar forest, the Naag mandir and the Sanasar meadow, at whatever pace suits the group.

4 Patnitop back to Sirsa

An early departure for the drive home, with breaks at Jammu and in Punjab.
